Privacy
This site does not use cookies, stores nothing on your device and loads nothing from other websites. It counts visits without keeping anything that identifies you.
What your browser sends
Each page runs a short script, served from this site, that sends two small messages back to this site:
- when the page opens: the page address, the address of the page you came from, and whether the browser says it is driven by automation software;
- when the page is hidden or closed: how many seconds it was on screen.
Each message carries a random number made for that page view only, so the two can be matched. Nothing is stored in your browser, and nothing is sent to anyone else.
If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, or if scripts are turned off or blocked, nothing is sent at all and the site works the same.
What the server keeps
- The page, only if it exists on this site.
- The name of the site you came from (for example linkedin.com), never the rest of its address, which can contain personal details.
- Your country, as a two-letter code supplied by Cloudflare, the network in front of this site.
- The kind of device (computer, phone or tablet) and whether the visit looks automated (search engines, link previews, testing tools), worked out from your browser's identification.
- A visitor code, so that several pages read in one sitting count as one visit. It is calculated from your IP address and your browser's identification together with a random key that is used for one day only (Sydney time) and destroyed shortly after midnight. Your IP address and your browser's identification are never written down. During the day, someone holding both the key and your IP address could recompute your code; once the key is destroyed, the code can no longer be traced back to you, or linked to your visits on other days.
What is kept, and for how long
The day after, the day's messages are added up into totals (pages read, visits, average time on a page, countries, devices, referring sites, automated visits) and then deleted. Only these totals are kept. They are not shared with anyone and are not used for advertising or profiling.
Other processing
The site is hosted by Gandi, behind Cloudflare. Like any web host and network, they handle every request, including your IP address, and may keep technical logs under their own policies. Those logs are not used for these statistics.
